Space shuttle Atlantis and its six astronauts are now set to blast off from the Kennedy Space Center at 6:43 a.m. EST on March 15. Final approval of that date will be made at a meeting of NASA managers at the end of February.
Of course, the chances of it flying on the first try are very low.
Next Space Shuttle Launch Scheduled for March 15th
Thanks for the info, Kat
List of things going on around that time in Orlando:
Spring training baseball (all March long, 2 locations in Orlando, and numerous other locations not too far away)
St. Patricks Day festivities (wonder what the wait time at Raglan Road will be that day; not to mention it falls on a Saturday)
Arnold Palmer Invitational (formerly the Bay Hill invitational; Tiger Woods normally plays) at Bay Hill
Winter Park Sidewalk Arts Festival: March 16-18 (one of the most popular festivals of its kind in the USA)
MLS action (Ronaldo%26#39;s new team might be playing?)
My wedding anniversary (the most important event of all, lol!)
And now, a shuttle launch March 15th (or shortly thereafter)
Kat, will you be down here on the 15th?
Next Space Shuttle Launch Scheduled for March 15th
Eddie,
Hard to say if we%26#39;ll be there on the 15th this year or not. If we do go down for spring training this year, we would definitely be there on the 15th, as that%26#39;s the week we always choose to come. However, we aren%26#39;t sure we%26#39;re coming for spring training this year, due to some scheduling conflicts. Also, I had a fall last Friday evening and severely sprained my ankle, so our trip will depend on how well it%26#39;s recovered by then.
By the way, I stopped by Ragland Road last year on St. Patty%26#39;s Day and boy were they ever having a party. Granted, it was only 11:00 AM and they were just getting started, but it seemed like it would be a lot of fun. We were down at Dodgertown in Vero Beach that evening watching a game. Lamar just loved the green beer.
Sorry to hear about the fall Kats. They say sometimes those sprains can be worse than a break. Good Luck.
Ouch! Best wishes for your recovery.
Thanks guys.
I stayed off the ankle all weekend and it was doing much better by Monday. Still hobbling, but getting better each day.
I%26#39;m hoping it will be almost back to normal by March, as I%26#39;d love to take our annual spring training trip. We%26#39;re huge baseball fans, and while my Cubbies don%26#39;t train in Florida, there are still many teams that do. Orlando is a great ';central hub'; for visiting around to the different venues.
I%26#39;ll know more in the next few weeks if we%26#39;re gonna make it down this spring. One thing we never do during spring break is go to the theme parks, since we hate the crowds. So, Wide World of Sports may be as close to Mickey%26#39;s house as we get. Although, we%26#39;ll probably have to have a nice dinner again over near M.K. so that we can see the fireworks one night.
Kats, sprained mine really bad back when I was in my early 20s. I was back up and moving fairly well after a couple weeks, but I was 25 years younger then. But I would think unless you did ligament damage you should back up and moving around by then. I do always know when it is going to rain in the cool weather as that ankle will start to ache.
