Kissimee old Town V Pop Century-- Not driving

Thinking of going trip on 14/04/07. Dont drive, just me and husband going. Questions-

- Is that a busy time to go?

- Like the sound of Kissimee old town, would getting taxis back and forth to WDW parks be expensive?

- Alternatively stay at Pop Century and taxi to visit Kissimee area?

We are going for a week and would not visit a park every day. Only going to WDW parks, done Universal etc before.

Would appreciate any help/tips with this dilema.

Kissimee old Town V Pop Century-- Not driving

1. Going on April 14 would be right at the end of the very very busy week before and after Easter period. Once you get past that first weekend, it won%26#39;t be as busy, but not slow either.

2. Depends on how often you%26#39;d like to visit Old Town. Pop Century would be a much better base for visiting the Disney theme parks, with the complimentary Disney transportation, and its not in too bad a location for jumping off to go to Old Town either. If you were only really wanting to go to Old Town once or twice, then staying at Disney would result in much cheaper cab fares than staying by Old Town, if you%26#39;re visiting the parks. Now if you stayed in a hotel by Old Town which has a Disney shuttle, that would be better, but a Disney shuttle which leaves once or twice a day (and comes back once or twice a day) is no match for Disney transport that runs around the clock while the parks are open. Then again, it also depends on the cost of the hotels, as I would expect that you would pay more for Pop Century than a place by Old Town.

Are you going to OldTown to ride the ';Sling Shot';?

EddieK%26#39;s advice is good...it will be a very busy time and you may have a hard time getting a room at Pop at this point.

From my experience, an afternoon or an evening at Old Town is sufficient. It%26#39;s not that big and not that amazing that it%26#39;s worth staying offsite for. There is a very nice hotel right next door - Comfort Suites Maingate East - but other than Old Town and a very busy 192, that%26#39;s pretty much it in Kissimmee.

Pop Century is a nice value resort and the transportation can%26#39;t be beat. You don%26#39;t have to do parks every day yet still enjoy staying onsite. Take an afternoon and travel around to all the different resorts to check them out; grab a bus to Downtown Disney and then if you want, grab a cab from there to the Premium Outlets.

Thanks to those who have replied tonight, you have helped me decide what to do. Not sure about the %26#39;slingshot%26#39; thing-will have a look first and decide!

Try Comfort suites maingate east. Right next to old town. They have a disney shuttle.
