I have recently posted a report about Madeira Norte, but thought it best if I also wrote more about this in the forum.
6 of us left Scotland for what was supposed to be the holiday of a life time. We took months planning out all the details and we all looked forward to our 2 weeks in the sun. The flights were booked through Flyglobespan [who were brilliant], our car was booked and two units at the Madeira Norte. We arrived on Saturday 5th August and stayed in a Holiday Inn near Sanford Airport for our first night. [due to wanting to enjoy the full hospitality of the stewards on the plane and so we would be fresh for our journey the next morning]. We arranged pick up of the keys for one unit by accessing the owners post box and the other renter was to meet us there. Everything went to plan and Don Fowler was at the unit and showed us around. Hmm, slightly disappointed as the description of the unit mentioned %26#39;luxury%26#39; which was not the first word that sprung to mind on entering the apartment. However, it was cleanish and was really only somewhere to lay our heads - right?
Everything was fine, until we all started itching two days later. We came to the conclusion that the unit was riddled with fleas. We had to buy spray and fumigate the place. Then the cockroaches visited us on several occassions. Not your normal cockroach - flying ones! [called Palamenos]. To top it all off the owner phoned us on our first Saturday there and insisted that we moved out a day early as he had a renter who had obviously booked after us. He needed in on the Saturday to clean the place [yeh right]. Despite having booked until the Sunday and all agreed and written via email. The man was vile. I would advise anyone who is thinking about going to Madeira Norte on Madeira Beach to stay well clear of Don Fowler and unit 416.
