Fort Walton Holiday Inn Sunspree

Can anyone help with a review of ths property? I have reservations for 3/24-3/31/07. My husband, 18 year old son %26amp; I are wondering about cleanliness, room size, general conditions of the resort, the comments here definitely run the gammit. We are supposed to have a gulf front suite. Because this will be our first trip, I thought we%26#39;d do hotel %26amp; check out condos while there.

I would like to know about surrounding activites, restaurants, beach situation (I%26#39;m reading that FWB is not as nice as Destin) any info you can share will be appreciated. We would rather avoid a little of the traffic %26amp; drive to Destin for activities if necessary. Perhaps trffic won%26#39;t be an issue this early? Thanks in advance!

What does a week at Holiday Inn cost? I bet you could find a nice Gulf front condo in Destin for $800-$900 per week on www.gulfcoastrentals.com. FWB is not as nice as Destin in my opinion, and you will be coming to Destin for dining and shopping anyway.

In my opinion, we really enjoy FWB, as it is less rushed %26amp; fewer people. (A sign I%26#39;m getting older, I guess!) We always stay in FWB %26amp; often go to Destin for activities, since it is so close, but have found some good restarants in FWB, too. The Holiday Inn looks to be totally Gulf front, as most resorts in FWB are. There are very few hotels, mostly just condos, %26amp; a height restriction, so no real high rises.

Don%26#39;t get me wrong, we love both communities, but always stay in FWB. All a matter of opinion. I know some like the slam FWB, but if you%26#39;d like to hear more, you can email me: paw423@gmail.com.

We stayed that hotel for one night last year before checking into our condo. Make sure that you are at least on the second floor or you will not be able to see the beach at all. They have a huge sand dune that you have to walk up some steps and cross a little bridge and back down steps to the beach. They have a nice huge pool with a little slide for kids. Be carefull if you decide to try the slide it ruins bathing suits. I agree with tthe other poster about condos. You are going to get a hotel size room for probably the same or more money than you could get a 1 or two bedroom condo with a full kithcen. We liked that there is a little bar by the pool at H I too.
