hotel for girlfriend's weekend

I would like help choosing the best hotel for a girlfriend%26#39;s weekend - would like to be near Las Olas for night time fun and the water taxi%26#39;s for afternoons, would like to be on the beach with great pool and poolside, beachfront bar etc...not planning on renting a car so do not want to be to far from the action, price is not necessarily an issue but don%26#39;t want to overpay if better options are available, definitely do not want to be in a spring break environment but want a lively pool bar area that is fun, so...does our dream hotel exist?? Any input will be greatly appreciated, also favorite afternoon happy hours and evening restaurants/clubs would be a plus too!

You might try Lago Mar Resort or Harbor Beach Marriott if your wallet can handle it. Sheraton Yankee Clipper fits the bill too with a little less ';luxury';. Thursdays at 5 they have a happy hour at their bar that looks into the pool complete with a live mermaid swimming by!

I was thinking the Marriott might be good, using miles to fly a few of us in so don%26#39;t mind the extra for hotel if it is worth it! Had looked at the Clipper too and will definitely keep that Happy Hour in mind! Which do you think is better Lago Mar or Marriott? I thought Marriott might be a better location, better beach? Thanks for your help!

If you are not planning to rent a car, the Marriott has a better location for walking-it%26#39;s an easy walk to the water taxi. Both the Marriott and Lago Mar are on the same stretch of equally nice beach. Marriott definitely has a livlier beachfront bar.Pools are nice at both, Marriott has a hottub as well. Rooms are just average at the Marriott, although the beds are really comfortable. We really like the 1 BR executive suites at Lago. By the way, the pool at the Sheaton Clipper is not that nice.
