Our children are 4 and don%26#39;t really use a stroller any more but we figure they will probably get tired so it will make sense to have one on hand. We are flying though so I am wondering if it is worth it to take our double stroller with us or if it will just be easier to just rent one at the parks? I am just assuming they have doubles. no clue what they cost to rent though.
Also we will probably be staying in a villa off site. Not sure if we will be driving or taking shuttle service, will depend where we end up. I read some posts that say the shuttles drop you off pretty far from the park entrances. We are probably doing MK and MGM. Are the parking lots also a hike away? If so then we may need our own stroller anyway. Thanks.
Bring stroller or rent one?
Hello TimesTwo,
They will definitely get tired and need a stroller. All four Disney theme parks have double strollers and I believe are about $18.00 a day or they do offer a length of stay rental price of $16.00. They don%26#39;t offer it during peak holiday periods though.
There are trams in the parking lots that take you to the front so you don%26#39;t have to walk far.
Bring stroller or rent one?
You will definitely need a stroller, not only because it%26#39;s a lot of walking, but also because it%26#39;s much easier to keep track of your children when they%26#39;re strapped into one, as opposed to toddling around. Personally I have always preferred to rent one, for the following reasons: avoiding the hassle of folding %26amp; lugging one on %26amp; off trams etc. , no worry if it gets stolen, because Disney will get you a new one if it goes missing, Disney strollers are large heavy duty ones, that the kids can easily jump in %26amp; out of (sitting side by side) normal strollers have a strap or bar between the child%26#39;s legs that don%26#39;t make for easy entrances or exits. The only time I would bring my own stroller is if I was taking an infant, because the Disney ones don%26#39;t really allow for a baby to lie or sit properly. If you are renting a car, keep in mind that taking your own will take up a lot of space in tha trunk. If you are renting a car, i would recommend that the driver drop off an adult %26amp; the kids in the area of the parking lot near the tram stop, %26amp; then park the car, if it looks like it%26#39;s going to be a long walk to the tram for little legs. Then rent a stroller when you get to the park gate. It will mean one more line to stand in at the beginning %26amp; end of each day, but we always considered it worth it.
We rented a double sroller when we went last. I think it would be too much work to keep up with your own when getting on and off of the trams and so forth. Also like mentioned before you would be taking a chance of having it stolen. I am happy to hear they have the length of stay rental at Disney. Anyone know if Sea World or Universal have a length of stay rental? Also, do they have stroller rentals at Disney Downtown?
Thanks!
O.K. here%26#39;s the flip side of the the stroller story. I like bringing b/c even going from your room to the tram/parking lots can be a long walk and you have it handy to roll the tikes along. Yes it is a hassle to close up for busses but newer models seem easier. Also easier to have in the airport for long walks to gates. Other advantage is if going to parks on heavy days one less line to wait in to rent stroller. Never had a problem w/stroller going missing and put a bandana on the handle or something so can be easily spotted in the stroller crowd.
Like so many things Disney, you have to decide what is important to you. I used a stroller w/a seat in front and bench in back for one to sit or stand on - mine were 21 mos. apart. If double stroller is two wide it is, in my opinion, awkward to move through the parks.
Have fun!
My son is 4 1/2 and we still use a stroller. We%26#39;ve always used our own rather than renting. One advantage of having a stroller, whether own or rented, is that it%26#39;s the perfect place to store all your stuff. Lugging a backpack would get tiresome after a while.
True, it is a hassle to fold up the stroller for tram or bus rides, but I%26#39;ve always liked the convenience of having my own stroller available anywhere. It keeps your kids rested and safe at the same time. They can sit in the stroller at the airport while you check in, etc and you don%26#39;t need to worry about them wandering off or getting run down by a suitcase.
I would defintely bring your stroller. By the end of the day, the kids will be exhausted. We went when my son was 5 and stayed on property. My husband was carrying my son from the tram to the hotel on his shoulders.
I would hop%26#39;t for taking your own. As the parks don%26#39;t allow you to take out strollers out int the parking lot. with your own you can elect to walk to the car and not have to disturb the kids who may be asleep and have to struggle with them along with all the other thing you will have to carry. the same applies on entering parks.
If you have your own if you decide to go to any shopping mall, beach area, And other places outside the park gates you will have the use of one , Villa sites can also be large and it also may be convenient to be able to put the kids, swim gear , play area toys. drinks , to go to the resort pool and play area.
As airlines tend not to charge for buggies you can save quite a few dollars by taking your own.
I think you should take your stroller. My observation is that the airlines load them on and off right at the gangway and you will have it to wheel them through the airport in bothe directions which can be a really long walk. You might check and see if your airline does that rather than making you pick it up in baggage. There%26#39;s lots of walking long distances , even outside the parks , as others have said and little legs will get weary.
Yep, take your own. There%26#39;s nothing worse than telling a tired child he as to get out of his stroller at the park gate!
It%26#39;s going to be about $16 a day to hire a double stroller, if you feel your own double might be too cumbersome in the parks you could buy a couple of cheap lightweight strollers for the trip, which would still probably work out cheaper than hiring every day you visit.
You%26#39;ll also have the benefit of having your stroller outside the park,.
Bring the stroller for sure. We have a 4 year old, and I don%26#39;t know about you but mine can be hard to keep up with in crowds. I can only imagine having to keep up with 2. They still have little legs that get tired and I agree with earlier post that it is a good way to contain them at the airport. I would maybe try getting 2 umbrella type strollers at walmart with the canopy for shade. They are pretty cheap and easy to load off and on. Plus you will need the storage space, trust me!!! Good Luck!

Renting a stroller will definitely save you from a lot of hassle. It makes things so much easier not having to haul a stroller in your car or plane.
