Husband is a community college professor. We live in a nice but small town on the Panhandle. He loves his job but educational opportunities for our high functioning special needs child are somewhat limited. She%26#39;ll be a sixth grader next year. Orlando is on our list of places to consider for many reasons. We are frequent (at least four times a year) Disney travellers.
That being said, I%26#39;m clueless about Orlando other than that little corner of the world. We would be looking to buy a house right in the low 200%26#39;s. So far, I%26#39;ve spent a lot of time looking at Winter Park - on a pure guess because of Whole Foods. We%26#39;re the kind of family that can spend hours in Whole Foods, farmers markets, etc. We like being outdoors. We like good schools. We like parks, good libraries, etc. Kiddo is heavily involved in children%26#39;s theater and other artistic pursuits - not so much into sports. A good Baptist church with a lot of activities for our eleven year old is a bonus. Winter Park seems high for what we could get. Being near Disney isn%26#39;t important at all. I imagine Disney will somewhat become like the beach is to us now - we just don%26#39;t go much eventhough it%26#39;s ten minutes from our door.
Any ideas? Areas to clearly avoid?
possible relocation to Orlando - ALL advice needed
I give some relocation info here:
tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g1-i9659-k971677-T鈥?/a>
I put the advice on the Off Topic Chatter forum, as TA does not consider relocation posts to be travel related, and sometimes deletes them, or closes the topics.
I will add a couple of things on that topic related to your post.
