I am heading to Florida in a couple of weeks and the current exchange rates if you change your money before you go are around $1.80 to the 拢1. I have had a look on some websites and it looks to me that if you change your money out there with a Bank etc I could get as much as $1.95 to the 拢1.
Has anyone ever done this? Has anyone just returned and can confirm if my research is accurate and that that is the rate when you are there?
Buying American Dollars
I am completely ignorant of exchange rates, but do want to caution you that unlike in Europe, there are only a handful of banks that will accept foreign money for exchange at all- generally just the largest ';main '; branch of the bank- often very inconvenient to get to. This is so different than what we found in Europe where banks everywhere change currency that I thought I should warn you- you wouldn%26#39;t want to be stuck exchanging at an airport excange booth or the like where rates are terrible. Rather than exchanging for dollars at all, I think your best best would be to use an ATM ( cash machine ) if you have card that works in them (Cirrus, Presto etc- not a credit card). They generally give the best rate because it is the wholesale rate and are everywhere you go.
