Where to stay near disney with the kids?

We would like to spend about 5-6 days in the Disney area with the kids. Any suggestions where to stay??

Stay on sight? or go for the condo with cooking facilities and laundry?

We have read the reviews so many places seem ';tired'; or dirty.

Thanks.

Hello CW,

I always recommend staying onsite for the convenience of Disney transportation to and from the airport and all the Disney parks including downtown Disney. There are Disney resorts with cooking facilities and laundry. What is your price range so I and others on the forum can better help you with resort choices?

I guess it really depends on how much Disney you want to cram in during 5-6 days, if its none stop disney disney and more disney then I would say stay on site but if you feel as though you would want a change for an evening, or take a morning out to do other things then I would recommend InternationalDrive, take care which end you stay at though, the end up near wet n wild is, in my opinion, (sorry if I upset some of you) tacky and looking old and tiried as you describe. If you head towards the Convention Centre it gets noticably better - there are some great places to stay - you could consider a rental home ?

You might want to consider the cabins at Fort Wilderness. They come with a separate bedroom with bunk beds and a double bed along with a murphy bed in the living area. There is a full kitchen in the cabin and laundry facilities throughout the resort.

Fort Wilderness falls in the moderate range of Disney resorts. It%26#39;s very easy to get to the MK via boat.

We usually stay on Disney property. We like the value resorts because we spend most of our time in the parks. We%26#39;ve stayed at All-Star Sports, All-Star Movies, and Pop-Century and our family is divided as to the favorite although I%26#39;ve heard something about All-Star Movie%26#39;s pool being closed for refurbishment. I don%26#39;t know if that is still the case.

I also love the Port Orleans resorts. Riverside is my favorite but French Quarter is probably more appealing for kids.

If you want to go w/ a Deluxe, go with Beach Club - great pool.

We%26#39;ve stayed at a Holiday Inn Maingate (East or West?) once and it was very nice. Our room included a kitchenette area. We got a great rate through www.wdwinfo.com

Here is a link with great photos of the Disney resorts - just be sure to click on the area that the line points to, rather than on the words themselves. disneyworldlinks.com/Resort-Park-Presentatio鈥?/a>
