Too many bars and restaurants, not enough time ??

After reading all these posts and threads, it seems as though my 4 days are not going to be enough to visit all the fun places that everyone talks about on TA. Been to KW before, but only did the usuals. The options seem endless. I think we are kind of far (South St.) from the happening end of Duval but don%26#39;t mind walking. We love happy hours, cold beers and ';fun food';. What are your must do%26#39;s and your don%26#39;t bothers (if there are any). Thanks. Can%26#39;t wait. Less than a month away.

Too many bars and restaurants, not enough time ??

For me...

Kelly%26#39;s on the corner of Caroline %26amp; Whitehead for margueritas and maybe a micro-brew.

Alonzos at the Bight for whatever 1/2 price appitizer you like and a Key West Sunset Ale

Conch Republic Seafood Co. for a blackened fish sandwich and a 2-4-1 Key West Sunset Ale

The Half Shell Raw Bar for 1/2 lb of peel-your-own shrimp and a Key West Sunset Ale. (Do we see a trend?)

If I do a real dinner...

El Meson De Pepe for a Cuban dinner and a glass of Spanish wine

Rooftop Cafe for one of their fish dinners and a crabcake.

B.O.%26#39;s Fishwagon for Fish %26amp; Chips and a corona, just for the ambiance.

And you%26#39;re right. There%26#39;s not enough time. But you%26#39;re never disappointed and it%26#39;s a reason to return.

PJK - never even heard of BOs fishwagon until today when I looked at all 234 pictures (Babette). Where is BOs? Great pictures by the way.

You%26#39;re going to be close to Duval Beach Club (4-7pm HH--apps and beer on special), Louie%26#39;s Backyard (go for lunch to save money and plan on having a cocktail on deck), and Atlantic Shores (they make a mean martini). Duffy%26#39;s in on Simonton (great for prime rib dinner without breaking the bank). Buck%26#39;s Bottle cap is also on Simonton and Catherine and they have live music late. On the way to the North side, you%26#39;ll walk by the Chicken Store (good souveniers) and La Te Da (wine, desserts, drag show). There%26#39;s a pizza joint to get slices on the way back to your hotel (it%26#39;s next to Bourbon Street Pub) that will assist any hangovers. New York Pasta Garden is in Duval Square (behind The ';K'; Store---water, smokes, chips) and their food is great! Origami and Square One (spendy) is also right there. Fort Zach is also close to South St., and you can walk up to Higgs.

So, if , one day, you decide not to take the 20 minute walk to the Mallory area, you should be able to keep yourself nicely buzzed and entertained.

If you get bored at one bar, you will find another. Trust me. If you set your mind to it, you can hit a LOT of bars. Don%26#39;t forget Prilosec/Zantac---it really helps...

brooker - BO%26#39;s is next to the parking lot that is next to the grocery store with the huge painting on the side (The name escapes me right now). Kind of near Schooner Wharf Bar.

It really looks like a bunch of junk piled up on the corner, but fear not - it is actually a pretty good place to eat.

Buffetguy! BO%26#39;s is IN the parking lot on the corner of William and Caroline. This is directly across from the US Marine store. Rumor has it that BO used to sell fish sandwiches from the back of his beat-up pickup truck around town. When the old truck died, he built a shack around it and there it is. The market that Buffetguy alluded to with the %26#39;can%26#39;t miss%26#39; ocean themed mural is the Overseas Market.

After a great lunch at BO%26#39;s, a very short walk towards the marina and a quick right turn will put you in the vacinity of another of Key West%26#39;s unique spots... Schooner Wharf Bar and beyond that, around the corner of the marina would be the Conch Republic Seafood Restraunt and the downtown are yet beyond that. If, on the other hand, you happened to turn left when you reach the waterfront and follow the wharf, you%26#39;ll find Turtle Kraals, Half shell and beyond that, Monty%26#39;s.

Finally, if instead of heading towards the water from BO%26#39;s, you crossed Caroline and turned left, you%26#39;d quickly discover Pepe%26#39;s, Hurricane Joe%26#39;s and finally PT%26#39;s.

Basically, BO%26#39;s is kinda the center of the Universe but it share%26#39;s that crown with the corners of Greene and Duval where Sloppy Joe%26#39;s is located.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for all your input. I am as confused as ever. I can%26#39;t wait to try a Key West Summer Ale.

On top of visiting all those places, my main reason for going down in November is to scope it out for my wedding in the Spring.

Brooker -

If you email me your snail mail address I will mail you a copy of See Key West magazine. It has a good map of Key West and the Bight so that you can kind of get a feel for the layout before you go, a lot of coupons, and various other information.

B.O.s is on Caroline, across from Pepes, another good place for breakfast, dinner, or just a drink in the afternoon. The funny thing about B.O.%26#39;sis that they stop serving at 9:00. They have a count-down clock and if you get there at about 8:45 and hesitate about ordering, they start yelling at you.

Pjk

PJK - thank you so much. I will do that. Funniest thing ever that BOs stops serving at 9:00.

I%26#39;m appearantly suffering from a brand new case of dyslexia... Please reverse my %26#39;Lefts%26#39; and %26#39;Rights%26#39; on the above post. %26gt;jeesh... A little proof reading might work well.%26lt;
