Hello i have been researching for ever this trip iam leaving jan8th of 2007 and not coming back unitil jan 20th. I hope i made enough time for everything we have never been to flordia. And when i say we i mean my husband and my two boys 2 and 4. So i bought tickets for 3 days at walt disney world 1 day at seaworld and 2 days at universal with 2 days at the nick holiday inn. And the first night we get down there we are going to see meival times dinner show. So what iam wondering is did i over book us because i still want to do shopping and do downtown disney. Do you think i need more time? The only thing i did not book was a charater breakfast do you think i need one? I just hope my kids have fun. We are staying at the ramada maingate west for 6 nights then going to nick hotel for 2 nights and then going to days inn maingate universal studios. So iam hoping i have picked good hotel choices also . So please if you have any suggestions please help because i have never been any where this is are first trip.
Hello please need advice
Hello momof2boyz,
I highly recommend booking a character meal!!! You%26#39;ll get great photo memories and your little ones will have a blast. For their ages I recommend The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom or Chef Mickey%26#39;s at the Contemporary Resort which is located within minutes of the Magic Kingdom. Since your going to be there so long I%26#39;d even book two character meals. For a list of Disney dining restaurants and menus go to www.allearsnet.com 407-WDW-DINE is the phone number to make the reservation. I%26#39;ve never stayed at the hotels you listed and I usually recommend staying at a Disney resort while visiting the Disney parks, have you checked out the value resorts? You will only need a day shopping in Downtown Disney and yes you%26#39;ll have plenty of time to enjoy all the parks you listed and have some down time to relax also.
Hello please need adviceI%26#39;m curious; why you are moving to three different hotels during your stay?
I can see moving to two different ones, if you were staying ';on property'; at both Disney and Universal Studios to take advantage of the ';perks'; of those resorts, but these you%26#39;ve listed are not ';on property'; resorts. You%26#39;re going to spend a lot of time ';moving around'; from hotel to hotel, so why are you doing it?
Will you have a vehicle during your stay? Are you flying into Orlando or driving from Michigan (driving to Orlando from Michigan will take two full days time in each direction).
Downtown Disney can be done in less than one day%26#39;s time, unless you simply must shop in every store. Other shopping isn%26#39;t far away from the tourist areas, so spend as much time as you want doing those places.
I agree with Kat about the moving around especially with a 2 and 4 year old.
Why are you staying at 3 different hotels? Personally I would stay at one place. You are going to waste time by having to pack and check out of one location and then drive to another location and check in again. Instead of getting up and say going to a theme park you have to get up and move to another location. You will loose a good portion of each morning by doing that.
As far as the medivil Times dinner show, if you haven%26#39;t already bought tickets, maybe consider something else as. I don%26#39;t like that show. The Dixie stampede by dolly parton is a very good show. Of course this is all just my opinion.
Your kids would probably love a character breakfast. If you can fit it in I would do it, I%26#39;m an adult and I enjoy it.
I did a search on www.waltdisneyworld.com and you can stay at: Disney%26#39;s Pop Century, All Star Sports, All Star Music or All star Movies resorts for less than $1050.00 for the entire stay.
Disney%26#39;s Pop Century Resort Resort Total: $1,014.86
Arriving on 01/08/07 for 11 nights
2 Adults, 2 Children
Feel groovy on a nostalgic stroll through decades past in this rad Resort hotel that takes a colorful cruise from the 1950s through the 1990s.
Resort Category: Value
Room Type: Standard View Room
And by staying here you can take the bus to any of the Disney theme parks and Downtown Disney which is nice and that way you won%26#39;t have to move around and it is not expensive.
I would definitely do a character meal. Either Chef Mickey at the Contemporary or Winnie the Pooh at the Crystal Palace. Your kids will love it!
I%26#39;m guessing that your main goal is that this is magical for your kids. My best advice in that case would be don%26#39;t overdo things. Plan on taking midday breaks to give them some down time. When we went with our kids last summer my mantra was ';plan for the best, but have low expectations';, meaning have a good plan to make the most of your time there, but if the kids are cranky and not having fun, go back to the hotel and let them chill out. We had a great time with no meltdowns!
Buy ';The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World';. It gives great advice on all of the Disney parks and area hotels. It also has a sections on other area parks. I can%26#39;t tell you how valuable this book was to me when I was planning our trip.
The only reason we are staying in three different hotel is becasue of money isues, like iam getting a kid suite for 63.50 a night and i wanted to try the nick hotel becasue of all the great reviews but we can not stay more than 2 nights because of the cost. And the days inn hotel by universal is the cheapest hotel around so that is why iam staying in three different hotels and yes we do have a vehicle. But we have to cut the cost big time. We can barely pay 60 dollars a night. including everything else like people are saying that i have to save like 100 -150 dollars a day for food and sovuniors. But we are going to try not to spend so much on food. And now people are saying i shoundt go to medival time dinner show why not?
Sincerly,
momof2boyz
As one reply suggested seeing the Dixie Stampede Show, I don%26#39;t think they are there any longer. We were down at the beginning of Aug. and was surprised to see they had closed. I believe a grocery store chain will be put up in that location.
I agree with others that you should really try to get in and do a character meal. Chef Mickey%26#39;s at the Contemporary would be an excellent choice. The character dining at Crystal Palace is mainly of Winnie the Pooh and Friends if that would be okay with your boys.
I would plan on spending at least one whole day in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World. You may want to skip Epcot as your boys may not find too much interest there. You may be able to do Animal Kingdom/MGM Studios in one day. That would leave you a second day for MK which they may enjoy more. Check Disney%26#39;s website out for hours at the various parks. I think they close earlier in Jan. and that will cut down on the amount of time you will have to do things there. Closing at 6 pm is far different than when they close at 11 pm.
Would also strongly suggest that you are renting your own car. Sometimes relying on transportation can take more of your time up then you would like. Good luck with your trip. Relax, your boys will have a good time. And so will you and your husband. Remember, at Disney EVERYONE is a kid, there are no adults!
hello momof2boyz
I would agree with others about not over doing things we went with our daughter when she was 3 and found the days we did back to back parks she slept for most of the second day.If its the same as us we tried to fit to much in at first but when you take your time we enjoyed it more.
I dont want to go on to much its the holiday of a lifetime for most people and you will make it your own and once you have been youll find a way to go again .
all the best to you and yours Im sure you will love it whatever you do
HeathersDad
p.s. we loved medivel times every ones different
Dixie Stampede most certainly IS STILL OPEN AND OPERATING.
Someone must be confused about that.
