Days Inn in Key West

Hey guys

My friend and I are Fantasy Fest virgins!

We are going to be staying at Days Inn during the festivities.

What is the best transportation method to get to Duval St from our location?

I%26#39;m pretty sure it%26#39;s not walking distance. LOL

Any help would be appreciated.

check out the Bone Island Shuttle. I%26#39;m pretty sure it runs past the Days Inn (did when I stayed there) and cost (back then) $8- for the day. Not sure how often it travels or what hours.

A cab is about $8-ish + to Sloppy Joe%26#39;s.

Chill.

Thanks Keyster!

From reading people%26#39;s reviews, they said not to rent a car.

What about scooters?

Any thoughts on that?

Scooter rentals come with a pretty much mandatory visit to the ER

The Bone Island Shuttle is gone. I was counting on using it myself but it hasn%26#39;t been in operation for at least 6 - 8 months. The Old Time Trolley is right outside the hotel there, but only runs until 5 or so and is $20. It is worth it if you%26#39;ve never taken it before because it gives you a chance to see the whole island and learn the history. It makes lots of stops where you can get on and off. If you time it right, you go downtown, shop, eat, and have it drop you off again at Mallory Square at the end of the day for sunset.

A cab will have to be the way from the Days Inn otherwise. It is way too far to walk. Scooters are probably fine until later on in the night after you%26#39;ve had a few. Save the money and do the cab thing. Next time stay within walking distance. It%26#39;s worth the extra money for the hotel.

Just found a map that will help you figure out which hotels are where on the island. Should help you plan where to stay (plus it%26#39;s got links to discount reservations)

The map is at keywesttravelguide.com/key-west-hotel-map.ht鈥?/a>

Thank you guys for all your help.

Yea...my friend and I were trying to get cheap rates for rooms and the days inn had a cheap rate...A VERY CHEAP RATE! :)

We might be doing the scooter rental route....u think it%26#39;s wise to book the scooters now since it%26#39;s the festival?

There%26#39;s a lot of scooter rental places near Day%26#39;s Inn. Shouldn%26#39;t be a big problem. A word of caution... They very rarely make it into the local paper but there are many scooter accidents and unfortunately, they tend to involve visitors with little scooter experience and/or a bit of alcohol. Please be careful. (this is not to say that locals are scooter accident free... It%26#39;s just the combination of unfamiliar streets, unfamiiar vehicle, lots of others driving in an unfamiliar town and a free-wheeling I%26#39;m on vacation attitude that make it dangerous unless you%26#39;re on top of your game.)

THANKS SEABUS for your advice

Okay....so no pre-reservation for scooter. We think we might just cab it from the hotel to duval st. Prolly cost an arm and a leg. Ugh!

Alright....I think my friend and I are ready for Fantasy Fest. :)

Since Seabus is a full time resident, maybe he can clarify the Bone Island Shuttle situation. I thought it was gone, too. That%26#39;s until yesteray when I saw it running. I don%26#39;t know if it was a special situation or if it%26#39;s back in operation. But as I sat there in Rum Barrel, I DID see it go by.

I know that it used to have a stop outside the Days Inn, but if that%26#39;s the same, and if it%26#39;s even still running need clarificaction.

Tim? A little help over here?

Thanks ConchyLee!

Yea...Seabus...any thoughts on that?
