Out and around

We will be in Orlando the first week in February 2007. We have been to Orlando many times and have done most of the tourist things in the general vicinity. Any suggestion for day trips out from the city?

Thnaks

Out and around

Here are a few things:

Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Canaveral National Seashore, Daytona Speedway, Ponce Inlet Lighthouse.

I%26#39;m sure someone can suggest some things in the Tampa area too.

Out and around

Homosassa National Park to see manatees.

Dolphin watch cruise from St Petes and a walk along the pier.

Have you already visited Celebration and Boardwalk.?

How about Mount Dora to browse craft and gift shops then a walk along the boardwalk to look for gators.

I have a great book called Hidden Florida which you may find interesting. Has lots of ideas.

Thnaks for the info. We have been to Mt. Dora and enjoyed it. We have not been to Celebration or Boardwalk. What is there?

Celebration is a suburb which has been developed I believe originally by the Disney Corp. to represent an ideal of what life should be like.

There are many rules and regulations for residents and it takes quite a panning from some areas and some think it too sickly sweet.

However suggest you pay a visit and see for yourself.

You park in communcal car pak - no charge - then a short walk to town centre where there are lots of gift and craft shops, restaurants etc to browse. There is a town centre fountain which the kids just love to run through and also a cinema.

It is very pleasant to bag a couple of rocking chairs by the lake for an hour just to unwind. Give it a go...........

Boardwalk is close to Epcot and you can actualy walk to it from World Showcase between France and UK I think. Alternatively drive to Boardwalk Hotel and tell security at the gate that you are just visiting and they will tell you where to park.

This is one of our favourite places to visit in the evening. Lots of restaurants, bakery, ESPN sports bar and you can walk right around the lake or hire a surrey bike if you are feeling energetic.

You can take boat or walk to Epcot and MGM from here too.

In the evening it is nice to sit on a swinging hammock on beach near yacht and beach club and can see some of the Epcot fireworks.

Are your plans fixed? As you%26#39;ve been to Orlando a number of times before, maybe you could consider expanding your horizons and visiting other places in Florida?

What are your favourites in Orlando? I%26#39;m sure everyone will have some great ideas on where else you would like. Do you want beaches, nightlife, theme parks, wildlife?
