Least Expensive way to get to Universal fro POR-Disney

Can someone suggest the least expensive way to get to Universal from Port Orleans for a party of 5 - without renting a car.

I think Mears charges 15 per person and that a taxi would be cheaper. Please advise

Actually someone just posted recently that a taxi cost them more. I%26#39;ve always had great, reliable service with Mears. I%26#39;ll see if I can find the poster that said she found the taxi to be more expensive and bump it for you.

Thank you healin 1; I thought Mears would charge 15 per person x 5 people - my boys are 12, 6 and 4 but I could of swore I paid a taxi $35 per trip in 2003 and it was quicker. I really don%26#39;t remember.

Yea 15 per person is really high especially if that%26#39;s the shuttle service. A couple of years ago we had a limo pick us up from Mears and I believe it ran us about 50.00 to go to Universal from a Disney resort. Still checking for some taxi posts for you.

Sorry, didn%26#39;t mean a limo picked us up meant a town car.

O.K. I didn%26#39;t know this but mears actually offers taxi service. I quickly went to their estimator, it appears it should run you about $30.00. Go to mearstransportation.com/TaxiFareEstimator.asp

Thanks healin1. I think that is what I paid in 2003 from Carribean Beach: $30 + $5 tip. So it will cost me $70 / day to go to Universal (that justifies not having to pack and switch hotels for three days at Universal???)

Best regards.

Oh absolutely if you don%26#39;t have to go through the hassle of changing hotels the taxi is well worth it!

Only going to be approx. $5 difference either way (van shuttle vs. taxi). We have always had really quick service from the Mears shuttle vans. If you really want a cheap way, you can catch a Lynx bus from the Disney TTC to Universal. A lot of people do it because it is so cheap (I think less than $2 per person), but we enjoy being picked up on our time schedule right at our resort.
