I need help with an outside view here. Get comfy...here goes....
Staying at PORS 1/31 - 2/8 with 7 day PH. I did not book a hotel the last 3 days because we were going to go on a Dis Cruise.
1,900 for us 4 (2 ad 2 kids 4,9). I couldn%26#39;t get the 2 thou. ( for actually only 2 full days of fun) out of my head.
I then started looking at the beaches, but the cold weather I read also the price for hotels on the Gulf side were crazy. So scratch that, go back to Disney and just add 3 more days to our PH tickets, but all moderates are sold out, hubbie against going to value after being in moderate, and the deluxe prices are way higher then they were 2 weeks ago. So, I saw this morning that the Disney Magical Express is being called the Tragical Express (most receiving luggage very late) so, now I am okay with offsite. I checked prices to stay at Universal/Gr Pacific (love express) 1,200. for the last 3 days, it would be around the same to stay at a deluxe (add 100 a day for food and now we are 500. bucks away from a cruise) Most of Disney area ones ere coming in at 179.00 and up with so-so pools.
My fam has done 6 days straight at DL at our pace (afternoon breaks) and still go home ';disney-home-sick';.
Is a 3-day Dis cruise %26#39;that-worth-it';? Would we feel less stressed seeing the parks with a 10-day pass? burn out? My brother says 3-day cruises aren%26#39;t worth it, not enough time. I know this is alot of questions, any advise/help would be greatly appreciated. oh and BTW I thought the first weeks of Feb were suppose to be slow? Why are all the hotels booked and prices jacked? (Didn%26#39;t read that in ';Unofficial Guide';) Superbowl? Convention?
Thanks,

The Superbowl is in Miami this year and some folks stay in Orlando and commute to the Superbowl from there, so that%26#39;s one reason for crowds during that time.
Another reason is the Daytona 500 race; another one where folks commute from Orlando. There%26#39;s probably a convention or two as well. All this, plus the normal Orlando visitation is causing both sell-outs and high prices. (supply/demand thing)
Everyone I%26#39;ve heard of who have taken the Disney cruise says its great, but I%26#39;ve not done so myself.
I agree that, after staying in a moderate, I%26#39;d have to move to a value resort in the same trip. Another chioce might be the way to go, if you can find an affordable one you like.

Thanks Kat.
2 options opened up today at the same price. Wilderness Lodge Villas studio or Animal K Lodge standard with savannah view. Both sound great, especilly with AAA rate. Does anyone have a pref?
Also, does anyone know if Magical express is better than in 2005? I noticed the bad reviews were from a while ago. I do not want to receive my luggage way after my arrival. Thanks for any help.
I think the Magical Express has improved greatly, but it may all depend on how busy they are. High visitation may mean slower service.
Don%26#39;t know about the cruise yet. We are considering one next year, but do plan on doing the 7 day cruise because I sort of thought that the 3 days wouldn%26#39;t be enough myself.
We have used Magical Express and will be using it again in December. We had absolutely no problems with it. From the time our flight landed until we were at our resort was less than an hour. Your luggage may take several hours to get to your resort, but they make this very clear before you travel. They tell you clearly that your luggage does not travel on the same bus that you do and this is why they can get you to your resort so quickly. We just packed swimsuits and an extra set of clothes for dinner in our carry -on. So while others were standing in line to get their luggage, we were singing songs on our way to our resort. While others were on other shuttles, getting rental cars or taxis, we were already checked into our resort and heading to the water park. When we came back from the water park our luggage was in our room. I think most of the bad complaints come from people who do not read their information carefully and do not pack a carry-on and then complain when their luggage isn%26#39;t there when they get there. If you pack a carry-on, you should be fine.
Just got back from WDW. Stayed with family in two rooms at Pop Century. Magical Express wasn%26#39;t. Bus trip went off without a hitch...but. We landed in Orlando at 1 pm and hadn%26#39;t seen our bags by 8:30 p.m. When we called down to luggage they said, yes, our bags were onsite but would be another hour before they could get them to us. We didn%26#39;t believe it. So we went down and retrieved them ourselves. And we weren%26#39;t alone. There were a dozen or so other guests doing the same thing. Luggage people seemed overwhelmed. Someone said you can take your bags off the airline carousel at the airport and wheel them to the bus and put them on yourself. That%26#39;s what we%26#39;ll do next time.
Rest of stay was great. We needed two rooms, so cost of a moderate or deluxe hotel was out of the question, and rooms at Pop were fine. We have one of those sleep machines, which I would strongly urge to drown out the noise of toilets flushing, showers running and, God forbid, you have a room facing the pool. Kids loved the selection at food court, although I liken it to one step up from McDonald%26#39;s, only 100 times busier. Rather like a train station at rush hour.
Minor complaints all.
