School holidays in Florida in 2007??

hi folks,

Hoping someone can clear up a query we have for our trip next year. We were told that the schools in Florida go on vacation on 15/6/07, which would have been perfect as our 3 week stay ends on 14/6/07 however...

I%26#39;ve since read something that suggests that the schools are on holiday from early May 07?

Can someone tell me which is correct and how much of a real impact this has on the parks?

Bit gutted if it has major impact as this is our 12th trip and we normally go in Sept but are going earlier next year due to father in laws 60th birthday!!

School holidays in Florida in 2007??

We live In Orange County (Orlando), and summer vacation begins May 23 for the public schools. Of course, the colleges get out much earlier, but I don%26#39;t know how much impact they have on the theme park crowds.

Osceola County (Kissimmee, etc.) begins their summer vacation a day earlier, on May 22.

Seminole County (Longwood, Altamonte Springs, etc.) schools start their vacation May 23.

this is what i feared!! Fingers crossed that it isnt a sea of people at the parks, think we would take that pretty hard considering our experience!!

We should just move out there and solve all the problems (I wish!!).

Florida schools get out a lot earlier than most other states. This will change with the 2007-2008 school year, as a law was passed saying school can%26#39;t start earlier than two weeks before Labor Day (the first Monday in September). Most of the rest of the US gets out of school the beginning to middle of June. The crowds here gradually grow from the end of May to about the third week of June, and then stay high until mid August. It will probably be busier than you are used to, if you always visit in September, but it won%26#39;t be as bad as the full summer crowds.

Thanks very much for your reply. As you can probably gather from my initial post, we are pretty familiar with the area and the crowds at our normal time, just taken slightly by surprise at the prospect of school holidays. We are there for 3 weeks from 24 May 07, just in time for the hols it turns out!!

I%26#39;m thinking that 3 weeks in Florida in May/June is worth the sacrifice of increased crowds!! Let%26#39;s remember that is it basically still winter in Scotland then lol!!!!
