Nassau House - new owner?

Does anyone know about a new owner for Nassau House? What happened to Mark and Michael? I am hoping that they have opened up another bed and breakfast? Any info would be appreciated. I am a little concerned with a new refund policy that was not in existence with Mark and Michael.

Nassau House - new owner?

M %26amp; M sold the Nassau House to Beau in mid-August. My wife and I have stayed at the NH since the sale and will also be returning in November. We had a fabulous time - Beau is a great new owner. Beau has a wife, child and a cute little dog named Dee. I would still highly recommend the NH - hence we are going back!

M %26amp; M still live down the street and were undecided of their future back in August - may have changed by now. I do know that Ponder and Peyton had puppies and M %26amp; M were going to be busy with the new additions to their family for a while.

I don%26#39;t have any info on the refund policy. What changed?

Nassau House - new owner?

We will be going to the Nassau House over New Year%26#39;s Eve. We were there last year and booked again when we were leaving. Anyway I have been putting down money on the room every month. Michael and Mark did not require that I even put down a deposit! So today I just put down another couple of hundred on the room and got a confirmation saying that if I cancelled within 14 days of my reservation I will lose ALL money deposited so far! I find this ridiculous since I didn%26#39;t have to put anything down to begin with. I have questioned this policy but I have not heard back yet. Here is a copy of what I received:

Our cancellation policy is 14 days prior to arrival. Outside 14 days there is a $25.00 cancellation fee. Within 14 days the deposit of $700.00 is non refundable

I can%26#39;t believe this is right but so far no response.

Some hotels have an unwritten policy that if you cancel your reservation and forfeit your deposit, but they end up renting your room, they will refund your deposit. Otherwise since they held the room for the guest, they lose out on the revenue when cancelled on short notice.

One thing to check out is your credit card%26#39;s travel policy. Visa/MasterCard and Amex set travel policies on cancellations that the hotels have to follow. If they are not followed, then the hotel is subject to a chargeback without recourse (in most cases).

I wanted a room for 5 nights--1st night 2/22/07. I wanted a room with a decent size shower. New owner had one room left but so happens it had the smallest shower of all. He asked if I could change my arrival date, because he%26#39;d rather I have a room I%26#39;d be happy with. He was nice enough to offer me a $189/night room with a king size bed and a normal size shower, for $179, if I could change my 1st night to 2/25/07. I can%26#39;t (so I made reservations at the Key West Bed and Breakfast). New owner replied to my e-mail, to see what was available, right away. The discounted room rate offer, and the nice message to me, may be an indicator that the Nassau House will remain one of the nicest B%26amp;B%26#39;s in Key West.

FWIW the Pier House requires a one night deposit when you book and will let you cancel or change with no penalty up until one week before your visit.

I just received a response from the new owner and he explained that it was a problem with the software. The penalty of cancelling within the 14 days is one nights room rate plus tax. That is more inline to what I am seeing!
