We will be staying at The Westin Diplomat Hotel and won%26#39;t have a car. I want to go to some malls while were there. Is it easy and convienient to get transportation to Sawgrass Mills Mall and Adventura Mall, and how long would it take to comute to these places? Where does the water taxi go? Does it go to shopping districts?
Thank you
Malls? How easy is it to get there?

It is not easy or convient to get from the Diplomat to Sawgrass Mills Mall. As mentioned on the HOLLYWOOD forum, it is about 25 miles from the Hollywood beach front, and a bit less from the Ft Laud beach front.
In the past, there were bus trips to Sawgrass from various hotels. Believe they stopped
Adventure Mall is MUCH closer, maybe about 7 miles. Of course this mall is not an outlet mall. It includes Macys/Burdines (2 separate stores) Bloomingdales, Sears, Penneys, a new one in the Lord %26amp; Taylor, (Dillards), and several others. Largest indoor non-outlet mall on the US East coast. Very busy. Bus from Diplomat (which one- Hollywood beach front or Hallandale Country Club will entail a change of busses, although there is one that leaves the Diplomat mall. (It will probably be a Dade County Bus).
If Oceanfront Diplomat, might be easier to take cab via A1A S over Lehman Causeway directly to the mall. THIS WILL AVOID TRAFFIC DELAYS caused by Gulfstream Racetrack....if they are running when you are there (Corner of US Rt one and Hallandale Beach Blvd)
Although the Ft Laud water taxi stops at the Oceanfront Diplomat twice a week on the way to %26amp; from Miami, it will not connect with the local www.watertaxi.com for you to shop at the Las Olas Shops, or the Galleria Mall (Macys/Burdines, Nieman Marcus, Saks 5th, Dillards, %26amp; etc.) on Sunrise and the ICW. The Ft Lauderdale water taxi does connect with those two shopping areas, but only from dock pickups in Ft Lauderdale- along the ICW or the New River.

just so you%26#39;re not confused bellini, it%26#39;s Aventura Mall - and it%26#39;s my favorite mall. There%26#39;s such a variety of stores. And don%26#39;t look for the ';Burdines'; logo - Federated Department Stores bought them out and they all became Macy%26#39;s. Those of us who are long-time Floridians were sorry to see the Burdine%26#39;s name go away....
Sawgrass Mills Mall is an adventure in itself. Only plan to go if you can devote the entire day (sun-up to sun-down) to the experience - and even then, you probably won%26#39;t see everything!
There are a few strip malls not far from the Diplomat and as they advertise a shuttle from the hotel to the country club, they might drop you off at these strip malls (there%26#39;s a Burlington Coat Factory in one of them). Keep in mind, though, that it won%26#39;t be a true ';shopping experience';.............
