Just checking a few details if I might ...
What is it you DO want?
There are properties on South Beach that run around $100US a night that are clean and simple (no high rises, no posh lounges) and there are hotels all over the city that serve the business trade, the motoring public, the weekend family visitors... people connecting through the airport and folks taking cruises too.
Bottom line? What kind of hotel or motel would you prefer and how much do you want to spend and WHERE besides South Beach would you like to visit?
Start here:

And also consider the Villa Paradiso, the Clay, the Atlantica Suites if you really want to be close to SoBe and Lincoln Rd.
Enjoy!

thanks advisor girl
we have stayed at Villa p and were kept awake all night by a drunk out on the street outside. Have also stayed at crest suites - good but now $250 + and their sister hotel and last time at the dorchester - which has since put up prices too.
We%26#39;re looking for under $200 , with clean rooms ,preferably parking and within a 20 min drive of lincoln.
I actually like the area around Coral Gables and the University of Miami. Good things to do during the day (Venetian Pool, Coral Gables, downtown Miami, not too far from the beach) and good nightlife as well that doesn%26#39;t seem as pretentious.
Could that be an option???

Frankly, I don%26#39;t undersrand why anybody would want to stay in South Beach, the hotels are so sub par even the Ritz. Look up Sunny Isles Beach (north Miami Beach) twenty minutes away but a world apart. Clean ,Safe ,New, hotel that I usually recommend in that price range is Doubletree Ocean Point. They offer single rooms as well as suites with full kitchens. The hotels in Sunny Isles Beach are all directly on the beach. Coral Gables is down town Miami.
ukiwill i stayed in the best western on miami beach last thursday ok it wasnt the hilton but it was ok i only did 1 night though with my 5 friends
but no direct parking outside its a valet service the water surprisingly was quiet warm i did there late afternoon though, i found it a lot warmer than clearwater!
Check out Coconut Grove. I%26#39;m going there in a few months for a pre-cruise stay and from what I%26#39;ve read, seems to be a pretty nice area.
My husband and I stayed at the Sonesta Hotel and Suites in Coconut Grove last month, for five nights. It was the nicest hotel I have stayed in during 30 years of travel. Cost was US dollars 151.20 plus tax per night, and I cannot believe what a bargain it was at that price. Coconut Grove is very safe and good for walking, and full of restaurants and bars. It is within easy driving distance of South Beach, but we used public transport with no difficulty. I have some photos of the hotel on http://www.flickr.com/photos/sue_elias/
Try Coconut Grove or Key Biscayne. Coral Gables my have some deals since it is a few miles inland.
