A couple of tips for the Magic Kingdom in Nov & Dec.

Many of are you are familiar with an event that happens at the Magic Kingdom in November %26amp; December called ';Mickey%26#39;s Very Merry Christmas Party';. For those who are not, this is a special holiday event that requires a separate ticket ($48.94, including tax, per person). It takes place from 7PM - 12AM on select evenings thoughout the season and includes cookies %26amp; cocoa, character greetings, a special parade, fireworks, and special holiday stage shows, and the usual Magic Kingdom rides.

Magic Kingdom will have all the Christmas decorations, the Disney Dreams Come True parade, and the Wishes fireworks during regular hours. However, the ';Spectromagic'; parade is not offered on days that have the ';Mickey%26#39;s Very Merry Christmas Party'; .

Whether or not you are doing this, you need to be aware of when it is going on during your stay because it affects park hours. If you are not interested in ';Mickey%26#39;s Very Merry Christmas Party';, you should schedule your visit to the Magic Kingdom to avoid those days so that you can enjoy longer park hours.

You may also want to avoid the Magic Kingdom on Dec. 1,2,3 because they will be filming a Christmas parade that is shown on ABC on Christmas morning. The Main Street U.S.A. area will be busy and congested on these days. The %26#39;parade%26#39; is not run as a regular parade. It is run in segments, often one float at a time with small groups of Cast Members and often with no music. It is a long, tefious affair to tape it all, and then it is edited to make it appear like a regular parade for television.

If your goal is to enjoy the Magic Kingdom, you will want to avoid these days. Some people enjoy watching the filming process though and hope to see themselves on TV so it is your decision.

If you do go on one of the Christmas parade taping days, I recommend that you avoid December 1st because it closes early for ';Mickey%26#39;s Very Merry Christmas Party';.

I hope this helps some of you with upcoming trips.

A couple of tips for the Magic Kingdom in Nov %26amp; Dec.

Thanks Steve! That is exactly when we are going and we were planning on hitting MK on Saturday with our girls who are 7 %26amp; 2. Now I will rethink our choice of parks for those days, and wait till Monday to go MK. We are still undecided about the Christmas party. Thanks again for the heads up on those days!!

I%26#39;ll be there too, Iowamom. Hubby %26amp; I will be there on 12/1 because we have already purchased tickets to the MVMCP and don%26#39;t want to go through the hassle of trying to change dates now. Our plans are flexible but we%26#39;ll try to visit MK when it first opens until around 11 or 12 and then we%26#39;ve got reservations at the Concourse Steakhouse @ 1 after which we%26#39;ll look at the decorations in the Contemporary and then go back to MK for the party. Hopefully all the people in the MK will be trying to get on tv and we%26#39;ll be able to hop on the rides with little to no queue. We%26#39;ll keep our fingers crossed.

THANKS, STEVE! that is super helpful information. i%26#39;ll be there dec2-8, and i had already planned on skipping MK on sat %26amp; sun, because it%26#39;s usually more crowded on the weekends.....i was planning on going to MK on dec 5%26amp;6, so this works out great! you da man!

Is MK usually more crowded on Christmas Day? We want to go for one day only (staying on the coast), and thought that would be a good thing to do that day when I assume most everything else is closed. Any other advice for the least expensive way to undertake a one-day visit? Cheapest way to get tickets? Is it AAA? How does parking work?

Well and I guess I should ask if MK is the way to go w/ my crowd. They are not into really commercial stuff, enjoy high-tech things, and have very little exposure to any kind of amusement park. Thoughts on if MK is the way to go? Basically I was thinking it is something to experience for a day, even if they don%26#39;t want to go on many of the rides, etc.

Why not go to Epcot for the day.....sounds like there is more to do for such a diverse crowd......haven%26#39;t been yet, but I am sure looking forward to it.......

The Disney parks - and most especially Magic Kingdom - will be pure insanity on Christmas - don%26#39;t do it if you can go some other time. Going prior to Christmas is better because the kids won%26#39;t be released for Christmas break yet.

Hi Steve

Many thanks for that - I shall review my itinerary!!

Cheers

Did you see that mousesavers.com has posted a new discount code?

For check-ins 11/1/06-12/23/06 you can get a special discount on a Magic Your Way vacation package. 11/19/06-11/23/06 and 12/2/06-12/8/06 may be excluded from this offer. Some hotels may have limited or no availability for certain dates.

Prices start at $369 per adult based on double occupancy at a select Disney value resort in standard room, for a 5-night/6-day package. Prices for the same package start at $217 per Junior (ages 10-17), $176 per child (ages 3-9) when they stay in a room with two adults.

The discount can be applied to a regular Magic Your Way vacation package or to a Magic Your Way Package Plus Dining.

This package offer covers some of the same dates as the previous ';Season of Dreams Package'; offer and offers similar rates. However, in a few cases it seems rooms at certain hotels have been opened up for discounting that were not available with the previous offer.

You must book by 10/31/06. Requires a 3-night minimum stay. The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Tickets must be used within 14 days of first use unless you add the No Expiration option for an extra cost. No group rates or other discounts apply.

Call 407-WDisney and ask for Discount code ZDN
