Price increase at Doubletree

I just checked the prices for Doubletree Guest suites on Expedia. To my horror and dismay, the price has increased $40 per night.

Is this a normal occurance? I thought September was considered low season. Now I%26#39;m wondering if I should start booking places now, before the price goes up again or Wait and see if they come back down a few months down the road?

Maybe some of you vets can help me out. We definetly need a suite hotel (5in family) that has good shuttle services.

Thanks,

Cindermom

I thought you logged out for the night-addicting, isn%26#39;t it? Whenever I have looked for hotels, I have always found the best rates with the hotel website. Mousesavers.com also used to have a deal at doubletree through their website, so you may want to check that too. Another option, which is close to the doubletree is Residence inn lake Buena Vista. I haven%26#39;t checked the TA reviews for some time, but a few monthes ago they were glowing. 2 bdrm. suites, kitchen, free buffet breakfast. Shuttle service. Certainly worth investigating, %26amp; as I said, the best rates for that were on the Marriott website at the time

Hey potato!

Well the kids are tucked in and Happy Hubby fell asleep waiting for CSI to come on.

I%26#39;ll definitely check those out. I looked at the hotel you stayed at(great review, by the way) but that%26#39;s way out of our price range.

I%26#39;m beginning to think I should just get you to book my trip for me.

We%26#39;re going to talk to a travel agent tomorrow. Did you use one or book everything online. I%26#39;m still undecided. I guess it%26#39;s a good thing I%26#39;m getting an early start. Sometimes I wonder if I%26#39;m jumping the gun and maybe should hold off booking until it%26#39;s a little closer to the dates we want to go.

As far as the addiction thing, I just quit smoking in November and I need a new vice!

Congrats on the smoking thing!

I have used a travel agent in the past, but this time we were flying on passes, so I just stuck with it on my own. There%26#39;s certainly pros %26amp; cons to both. If you%26#39;re checking with a travel agent, find out when their price scedules come out. I know for winter, the big companies like funsun, holiday house etc. that the agents deal with get their prices in around August, so they may not have any prices for you yet.

May I ask what drew you to doubletree? From what I remember, those rooms only have a louvered door separating the bedrm. from the living. Do they have full kitchens? Why are you needing shuttle service? Is it because you%26#39;re nervous about driving in a strange place? If so, don%26#39;t be. It%26#39;s not that scary, %26amp; the people on this forum will walk you through everything you need to know. If you are sticking with hotels that offer shuttles-check the TA reviews very carefully. Many hotels offer more shutle service in the high monthes than low. So say for example a hotel review in Dec. that says';The shuttle came every hour'; or whatever may be far from what you;ll get in Sept. Look for reviews in Sept. %26amp; see what they say about shuttles.

Here%26#39;s another tip: many people look at the price of full condos, %26amp; opt. for a hotel due to price. Be sure to factor in the following; If renting a car, you will only be able to fit so much luggage in it. That means either renting a van($200 or more raise) or paying about $4 a load for laundry. (Make sure your hotel has laundry facilities!!!) many condos have in suite washers %26amp; dryers. In a suite, you can make your own meals. If not you will be relying on more restaurants, (so at least try to get a hotel with a nice free breakfast) If you are not renting a car, you will need transport for 5 from the airport. Those airport shuttles really add up, it is probably more cost effective to get a cab or limo(same price as cab I think) I guess what i%26#39;m trying to say is don%26#39;t be in such a rush to decide lodging etc. Orlando is loaded with options. Everything from deluxe on property rooms, to condos %26amp; houses in Orlando %26amp; Kissimee. this forum will be a HUGE help with that. Don%26#39;t worry. You%26#39;ll eventually find everything that fits you %26amp; your family.

Thanks bunches, potato!!

I swear, finding this forum was the luckiest thing for me. You know, I hadn%26#39;t even thought of Kissimmee until you mentioned it. I guess I still have ALOT of investigating and pondering to do.

But now, CSI has started and Hubby is snoring loudly. Better go wake the old boy up so I can at least hear the show!

Thanks again for great advice. I know we%26#39;ll be conversing lots in the future!

Sweet Dreams!!

I%26#39;d stick with Doubletree,it%26#39;s a good choce. But check the prices on www.mousesavers.com and on the Hilton%26#39;s website. I%26#39;ve never found Expedia to have the best prices at all. Hotel prices fluctuate constantly, many times over each day so don%26#39;t let that be a worry. It%26#39;s 9 months away!If you are nervous, book a refundable rate and keep looking-but try other websites too.

Ever try calling the hotel directly and asking for the ';entertainment rate';?

You will need the buy the discount book but it gets us great deals on Hilton properties.

www.entertainment.com is the website.
