Restaurant Recommendations

We will be in Lake Buena Vista/Disney in a couple of wks. Any recommendations for good cafes/restaurants- preferably non-tourist oriented places( if those are to be found). We like Sandwiches/Salads, Seafood, and Pastas and dessert in any form. Are there any '; Don%26#39;t Miss'; eateries inside either Epcot/ Magic Kingdom while we are there? Also, any Thai restaurants in the area? Thanks!

Restaurant Recommendations

Check out the recent post about the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot...sounds like you could get some great stuff there. Go to allearsnet.com for detailed on-site restaurant info.

If you are in the area of the Cheesecake Factory - it%26#39;s soooo good.

Restaurant Recommendations

Thank You Mel. I think the Food and Wine Festival will definitely be a stop for us!. I also like The Cheescake Factory- used to go just for dessert when we lived in Denver.

In the LBV shoppes you have the famous Ghiradelli Chocolate place for desserts which is always busy!

Macaroni Grille - Has good pastas, salads (really large portions of food) and is located about 2 miles N of LBV on Apoka-Vineland Rd.

Joes Crab Shack is a popular seafood place in the same area as above.

The there is an area about 8 miles from LBV worth your while by driving N on Apopka-Vineland Rd to Sand Lake Rd which is which aka ';restaurant row'; they have a few really nice places (listed below) you%26#39;d enjoy.

Seasons52.com - they have GREAT fresh seafood, salads, and even figure friendly mini desserts.

Antonios - serves very good pizza, pastas, %26amp; salads.

Timpano.com is serves up good (but pricey) Italian pasta.

Panera is also a really neat place for good sandwiches, salads %26amp; desserts!

I have no recommendations for any ';don%26#39;t miss'; eateries in the expensive Epcot/Magic Kingdom...sadly. There are many Thai inspired restaurants but I have yet to find any good ones in Orlando.

Enjoy yourselves... you are coming during a nice time of year!

Someone else had mentioned Texas de Brazil. I have no idea what it%26#39;s like since we haven%26#39;t been there, but check out their website, and if you like the look of it, sign up for their e-club for discounts. I did that and they sent me a coupon for 25% off.

Just got back. Loved the Wolfgang Puck Cafe in Downtown Disney.

Try the Pumpkin Ravioli.....so good! Soups and desserts all made in house, too.

Bahama Breeze gets good reviews - see their website at www.bahamabreeze.com

I%26#39;m not a huge fan of the food inside the Magic Kingdom but there is a snack - the Dole Whips, which are pineapple soft-serve icecream served at Aloha Isle in Adventure Land.

We usually take the boat or monorail from the Magic Kingdom over to the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian resort - we always enjoy the food there.

Epcot - well, this is the food park. I personally think Coral Reef (the restaurant with the aquarium) is over-rated. Check the Norway and France pavilions for dessert. Will you be at Epcot during the Food %26amp; Wine festival - if so, you%26#39;ll have lots of great choices.

The dining pages at www.allearsnet.com give great restaurant menus, prices, recommendations etc.

Hope this helps.

Steve

Thanks Everyone!!! We%26#39;re looking forward to trying some of these places.

Also, Anyone know of a place with good Creole/New Orleans food- i.e. good gumbo, jambalaya etc.

the House of Blues has pretty good New Orleans food-I had an excellent po%26#39; boy there with lots of shrimp/

hey canadamel!

I think i could be the one who mentioned texas de brazil!

It is the best! :-)

You should definetly try it! It is a steakhouse with fabulous antipasti buffet (the really g o o d stuff!) and 15 different meats...

Great choice!

The Food %26amp; Wine festival rates as one of my best ever Disney experiences - fantastic fun. I planned to have a ';full'; meal at EPCOT but after a day munching on the food %26amp; wine stuff (plus enjoying beers from around the World - Mexico was my favourite - kept going back) we were stuffed....

hungry now!!
