Spending February in Summerland Key.

We are spending February in Summerland and wanted to know about snorkeling druing that time. From what we;ve read some people say you need wetsuits. The water temp seems high enough to go without. Any suggestions. Also any suggestions for great palces to eat in the Lower Keys.

Thanks

Mangrove Mama%26#39;s is a fun %26amp; fabulous place to eat or have a drink. It%26#39;s in Sugarloaf Key, right on the border of Summerland Key, on the main road, the intercoastal Highway. Try their appetizer Shrimp St. Jacques...it%26#39;s phenomenal %26amp; thier fresh fish is superb. Friendly staff %26amp; loyal locals love this place.

Uncle%26#39;s is also enjoyable %26amp; delicious; it%26#39;s further North.

Boondocks near Summerland has big, juicy %26amp; wonderful cheeseburgers %26amp; casual food %26amp; a variety of beer.

Island Dogs in Key West on Front St. has good casual food %26amp; great Island Dog margaritas.

If you take a drive up to Marathon stop at Keys Fisheries. Great food.

We have had a mild winter so far this year so water temps may be a little warmer than usual. Many people come to Florida %26amp; don%26#39;t seem to mind the cold water for swimming at the beach, however for spending an hour or two snorkeling you may need one.

Make sure you check out the Square Grouper Restaurant on Cudjoe Key. Its in a red building along with a hair salon. The food is wonderful, a definite hidden jem. Unique menu, great service, yum I think I will go tonight.

Agree....Square Grouper is indeed a wonderful dinner spot. They have a very nice house Pinot Gris there.

Knuckleheads is reborn from the ashes of Hurricane Georges by the original owners and has a very nice menu, including fresh fish tacos. Full bar. Greg and Alice, owners, always there. MM15

Bobalu%26#39;s, MM10. Southern style, family, casual. Big homeade stuff. Thanksgiving dinners, meatloaf, a nice jerk chicken, homemade pies and cobblers. Comfort food all the way. Doug also makes very good pizza.

Geiger Key Marina, MM11. Kitchen staff seems to change occasionally but right now they%26#39;ve got a winner. Good menu, cheap, waterfront, outside dining.
